My plan is to run a kind of proof-of-concept one-day show in downtown Ottawa Saturday, May 30 at the hall in Knox Presbyterian Church. My experience with the Ottawa comic community is that it’s somewhat scattered and disparate, so I’m hoping this could be an event to bring everyone together a bit more (while also providing an opportunity to interact with the public, too). Plus, from what I’ve seen, there isn’t really a space in town focused on comics and comic creators, so ideally this could help fill that, too.
In an effort to encourage participation on all sides, tabling and entry would be free. I want to encourage the participation of both newer and more established creators, so basically the only requirement for tabling would be to have some comics that one has made that one would want to sell / share with the wider public. There might be panels, but there are some logistical considerations to figure out and I’m not sure I’ll have the time / bandwidth to get that part organized.
